The captain delivers the decisive moment as Cerritos’ second-half pressure and defensive discipline secure the win.
Match Report — October 20, 2026 | Torrance, CA
In a match where scoring opportunities were few and far between, one decisive moment proved to be the difference as Cerritos College secured a 1–0 victory over El Camino College, thanks to a towering header from captain Christian Marín.
The opening half offered little attacking excitement, as both teams struggled to establish a rhythm in the final third. Clear-cut chances were limited, and neither side found the breakthrough before halftime, leaving the contest scoreless after 45 minutes.
Cerritos returned from the break with greater attacking intent, gradually pushing El Camino deeper into its own half. Although opportunities remained scarce, the Falcons began showing more initiative in the attacking third, searching for the breakthrough.

That persistence eventually paid off.
Following a corner kick, Marín timed his run into the penalty area perfectly, launching himself toward the cross and connecting with a spectacular header that found the back of the net. The captain’s finish gave Cerritos a 1–0 lead and provided the defining moment in a match where chances had been hard to come by.
With the advantage secured, Cerritos continued to push forward, creating two additional opportunities, including an ambitious bicycle-kick attempt that narrowly missed the target.
El Camino, meanwhile, struggled to mount a meaningful response. The Warriors had difficulty creating attacking sequences that threatened the Cerritos goal, while the Falcons remained organized defensively and protected their lead through the final whistle.
Ultimately, the difference came down to execution. In a match short on chances and attacking rhythm, Cerritos capitalized on a crucial set piece while limiting El Camino’s ability to find an equalizer.
Cerritos improves to 4-0-1 in conference play and 8-2-4 overall and will look to carry that momentum into Friday’s home matchup against Long Beach City College.
El Camino falls to 3-2 in conference play and 7-5-2 overall and will look to bounce back in its upcoming matchup against Compton College.
